This Privacy Policy explains how Foreplay ("Foreplay," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Foreplay website and mobile app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect the following, which you provide or generate by using the Service:

• Account information: your name, email address, and optional profile details such as handicap and home course.
• Content you create: tee times you post or join, golf scores and rounds, your estimated handicap index and course records, friend connections and requests, group chat messages, comments, and reactions.
• Course lookups: when you search for a golf course, that search is sent to a third-party golf course data provider to return scorecard details.
• Technical data: basic device and usage information (such as app version and general activity) needed to operate and secure the Service.
• Location (only if you enable it): if you use features that require your location (for example, on-course distances), we access your device location while you use that feature. We do not track your location in the background.

How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and profile.
• To operate core features: posting and joining tee times, matching golfers, group chat, scoring, handicap calculation, leaderboards, and course records.
• To show your activity, profile, and estimated handicap to other golfers you connect with, consistent with your public/friends-only settings.
• To send in-app and (if you enable them) device reminders, such as upcoming tee-time notifications.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.

How your information is shared

Foreplay is a social app, so some information is visible to others by design:

• Other users: your name, profile details, estimated handicap, posted tee times, and activity may be visible to other golfers. Tee times you mark "friends only" are limited to your friends and people you invite.
• Service providers we rely on: we use Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Netlify (website and app hosting), and a third-party golf course data API (course scorecards). These providers process data on our behalf to run the Service.
• Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or Foreplay.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising in the Service.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

• You can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app.
• You can delete content you create (such as rounds and comments).
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or account deletion, by contacting us at the email below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
• You can turn device notifications on or off in your phone's settings.

Security

We use reputable providers and access controls (including database row-level security) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

Children

Foreplay is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app.
